La gare de Woudenberg-Scherpenzeel se trouvait sur la ligne de chemin de fer Kesteren - Amersfoort. En même temps que l'ouverture de cette ligne le 18 février 1886, la gare a été livrée pour le transport de passagers et de marchandises.
La gare était exactement à la limite des municipalités de Woudenberg et de Scherpenzeel, mais donc loin des centres des deux localités. Elle se trouvait également dans 2 provinces, Utrecht et Gelderland. Du côté sud, près du passage à niveau, un hangar à marchandises a été construit. Plus tard, d'autres hangars ont suivi. En 1922, le dépôt a été modifié en raison de l'installation d'une double voie entre Amersfoort et Woudenberg-Scherpenzeel.
