La iglesia de Maria Hemelvaartskerk es un edificio de estilo neogótico que se encuentra en Dorpsstraat 50 en Graauw.
La parroquia de Grauw y Langendam fue fundada en 1805 y estaba dedicada a Nuestra Señora de la Asistencia, que más tarde se conoció como Maria Tenhemelopneming, en el habla popular Maria Hemelvaart. El primer párroco fue un capuchino que fue expulsado por los franceses de su monasterio en Mechelen en 1797. Este párroco fomentó la devoción a la santa Godelieve. Ya en 1806, la iglesia poseía una reliquia de esta santa. Hasta 1841, la parroquia formó parte de la parte zeelandesa de la diócesis de Gante, luego pasó a depender del Vicariato Apostólico de Breda, la posterior diócesis.
