En 2003 se reveló en el Havenhoofd de Middelharnis la obra de arte De Palmboom, diseñada y fabricada por el artista Jan Samson.
En las palabras del propio Jan Samson: "Un faro en el havenhoofd de Middelharnis.
Una palmera estilizada, con peces como hojas, invita al espectador a un viaje imaginario. Una cálida luz naranja desde abajo también marca la noche en el Haringvliet."
