En 1915 se funda la Cooperativa de Productos Lácteos Sint Barbara en Eckelrade. Los agricultores de la región pueden traer su leche aquí, para que se procese en diversos productos lácteos. En 1951, la lechería de Eckelrade se fusiona con la lechería Limburgia de Reijmerstok. Juntas continúan bajo el nombre de Sint Barbara. Dos años después, en 1953, la lechería de Eckelrade cierra sus puertas y la fábrica continúa solo en Reijmerstok. Mientras tanto, una B&B ocupa el notable edificio en Eckelrade.
