I 1915 blev den Kooperativ Mejeri Sint Barbara i Eckelrade grundlagt. Landmænd fra regionen kan bringe deres mælk hertil, så den kan forarbejdes til forskellige mejeriprodukter. I 1951 fusionerer det Eckelraadiske mejeri med det Reijmerstokiske mejeri Limburgia. Sammen fortsætter de under navnet Sint Barbara. To år senere, i 1953, lukker mejeriet i Eckelrade sine døre, og fabrikken fortsætter kun i Reijmerstok. Imens huser en B&B den markante bygning i Eckelrade.
