La torre de transmisión de Smilde es una torre híbrida de 303,5 metros de altura del servicio de radiodifusión neerlandés para FM y TV, que fue completada en 1958 cerca de Smilde. La torre de transmisión de Smilde se puso en funcionamiento en 1959 y fue la estructura más alta del norte de los Países Bajos. El 14 de agosto de 1968, fue rozada por un caza estadounidense del tipo North American F-100, y la parte superior del mástil de la antena se dobló considerablemente.
