Las Provincias Unidas de los Países Bajos, o República de los Siete Países Bajos Unidos,[1] fue un Estado formado por las siete provincias del norte de los Países Bajos , agrupadas desde la Unión de Utrecht hasta la ocupación francesa .Con la firma de la Paz de Westfalia en 1648, la República de las Provincias Unidas fue reconocida como Estado independiente y conservó parte de los territorios que había conquistado durante la guerra de los Ochenta Años.[2]
