La Paardekop es una zona natural con brezos, algunas charcas y muchos bosques de pinos justo al sur de Ysselsteyn. Está a una altitud mayor que el entorno, lo que la convierte en una zona seca. Cuando las turberas de Peel aún no habían sido drenadas, la mejor forma de atravesar la Peel era a través de la Paardekop. Esta conexión se llamaba "Swarte Baen". También hay una torre de observación en la Paardekop.
