Este Punto de Tres Fronteras fue alguna vez un Punto de Cuatro Fronteras, lo cual es una gran rareza en el mundo. El Punto de Cuatro Fronteras fue formado por Bélgica, Prusia/Alemania, los Países Bajos y Neutro-Moresnet.
Con la independencia de Bélgica en 1830, el Punto de Tres Fronteras en el Camino Neutral cerca de Ottersum desapareció y surgió en el Monte Vaalser un punto de cuatro fronteras entre Bélgica, primero Prusia y luego Alemania, los Países Bajos y Neutro Moresnet. En 1919, Neutro-Moresnet fue anexado a Bélgica y este punto desapareció.
