Tønsberg ] ) es una ciudad y municipio del sur de Noruega en la provincia de Vestfold og Telemark y capital de esta.
Tradicionalmente se la consideraba la ciudad más antigua de Noruega, pero actualmente se acepta que fue fundada hacia el siglo XII. Fue una de las ciudades más importantes del país durante la Edad Media, pero perdió relevancia al ser arruinada por incendios. En el siglo XVIII recuperó vitalidad y se convertiría en un destacado centro ballenero y naviero. Actualmente, la economía del municipio gira principalmente en torno a los servicios, entre ellos el turismo, pero las actividades industriales y agrícolas no son desdeñables.
