Esta iglesia románica, del siglo XIII , con reconstrucción neoclásica, fue sede de la Colegiada de Valença y del obispado de Ceuta.
En el interior destaca la silla episcopal gótico-mudéjar , del siglo XV, única pintura de la Virgen de la Leche que escapó a la Inquisición en Portugal. En el coro alto hay un órgano de principios del siglo XVI.
Afuera hay un gran cementerio.
