Cette église romane, du XIIIe siècle , avec une reconstruction néoclassique, était le siège de la Colegiada de Valença et de l'évêché de Ceuta.
À l'intérieur, on remarque la chaire épiscopale gothique-mudéjar du XVe siècle, seule peinture de la Vierge du Lait ayant échappé à l'Inquisition au Portugal. Dans le chœur supérieur se trouve un orgue du début du XVIe siècle.
A l'extérieur, il y a un grand cimetière.
