Esta emblemática casa fue construida en el siglo XV, siendo su elemento más llamativo el gran arco de piedra de 140° en línea recta en la planta baja, por lo que está considerada Monumento Nacional.
También es conocida como "Casa dos Velhos", por ser la residencia de João Velho , ilustre navegante de la ciudad, conocido por sus expediciones al Congo .
En la primera planta se encuentra la sede de la Asociación de Pensionistas y Jubilados de Viana do Castelo.
