This emblematic house was built in the 15th century, its most striking feature being the large 140° stone arch in a straight line on the ground floor, which is why it is considered a National Monument.
It is also known as "Casa dos Velhos", because it was the residence of João Velho , an illustrious navigator from the city, known for his expeditions to Congo .
On the first floor is the headquarters of the Association of Pensioners and Retired Persons of Viana do Castelo.
