Questa emblematica casa fu costruita nel XV secolo e la sua caratteristica più sorprendente è il grande arco in pietra a 140° in linea retta al piano terra, motivo per cui è considerata Monumento Nazionale.
È conosciuta anche come "Casa dos Velhos", perché fu la residenza di João Velho , illustre navigatore originario della città, noto per le sue spedizioni in Congo .
Al primo piano si trova la sede dell'Associazione dei Pensionati e dei Pensionati di Viana do Castelo.
