El Monumento a la Encajera de Vila do Conde es un homenaje a las mujeres de Vila do Conde que han continuado el arte de hacer encaje durante siglos.
El monumento fue diseñado por Ilídio Fontes y Cláudio Ricca y fue inaugurado el 7 de noviembre de 1993.
La encajera teje a mano encajes finos. El encaje de bolillos se ha vuelto muy popular en Portugal , especialmente en las zonas costeras, comenzando en la zona norte de Caminha y terminando en la soleada ciudad de Olhão. Sin embargo, en ningún otro lugar se ha vuelto tan popular como en los municipios de Vila do Conde y Peniche.
La ciudad también cuenta con un museo que alberga el encaje más grande del mundo .
