Craiova es una ciudad con estatus de municipiu de Rumania, capital del distrito de Dolj, emplazada cerca de la orilla izquierda del río Jiu en la Oltenia central, equidistante aproximadamente entre los Cárpatos meridionales y el río Danubio. Craiova es la principal ciudad comercial, cultural y centro universitario al oeste de Bucarest.
