Kamphaeng Phet fue un importante puesto estratégico del Reino de Sukhothai y más tarde del Reino de Ayutthaya. La ciudad estaba fuertemente fortificada con murallas, almenas y fortaleza. Este bastión se encuentra en la muralla sur de la ciudad. Un panel de información local indica que, dado que es de estilo europeo, se puede suponer que el período de construcción fue entre los siglos XIV y XV d.C.
