Kamphaeng Phet was een belangrijk strategisch vooruitpost van het Sukhothai Koninkrijk en later het Ayutthaya Koninkrijk. De stad was sterk versterkt met muren, kantelen en een vesting. Deze burcht bevindt zich op de zuidelijke stadsmuur. Een lokaal informatiebord vermeldt dat, aangezien het in Europese stijl is, men kan aannemen dat de bouwperiode tussen de 14e - 15e eeuw na Christus was. Naar mijn mening is het ontwerp van de versterkte stadsmuur met bastions van de hand van de Fransen. In 1685 na Christus arriveerde de Franse ingenieur de La Mare met de de Chaumont - de Choisy ambassade en bleef op verzoek van koning Narai in Siam om versterkingen te bouwen. De versterkingen behoorden waarschijnlijk tot die periode.
