Putyvl o Putivl es una ciudad del nordeste de Ucrania, en el óblast de Sumy, de cuya capital, Sumy, se encuentra a unos 80 km. Es el centro administrativo del raión de Putyvl. En 2005 tenía una población estimada de 16.962 habitantes.
Una de las ciudades originales de Severia, Putyvl fue mencionada por primera vez en 1146 como una importante fortaleza disputada entre los principados de Chernihiv y Nóvhorod-Síverski del Rus de Kiev. La canción de Yaroslavna sobre las murallas de Putyvl es la culminación emocional del medieval Cantar de las huestes de Ígor y de la ópera de Aleksandr Borodín El Príncipe Ígor.
