Il est situé dans la vallée de Gegend de la chaîne de montagnes Nock, au bord du Brennsee, entre le massif de Mirnock au sud-ouest et le Wöllaner Nock au nord-est. La zone municipale se compose d'une communauté cadastrale, Rauth, qui est également la plus ancienne colonie de la région.
Le recensement de 2001 a dénombré 1 188 habitants. 66,0 % sont protestants, 27,5 % sont catholiques romains, 0,8 % sont musulmans et 5,1 % appartiennent à d'autres dénominations.
