Aschau im Zillertal est une commune de 1877 habitants dans la vallée de Ziller et fait partie du district de Schwaz en Tyrol. La commune est située dans le district judiciaire de Zell am Ziller. Aschau se trouve à la transition entre la partie avant et la partie arrière de la vallée de Ziller, à un rétrécissement. C'est, avec Mayrhofen, la seule commune des deux côtés du Ziller. Le territoire de la commune se compose du village principal d'Aschau et de hameaux dispersés sur les pentes des montagnes et au fond de la vallée.
