La gare de Stubaital a été construite en 1903 et était jusqu'en 1983 la gare terminus du Stubaitalbahn à Innsbruck. Depuis 1983, les trains en provenance de Fulpmes passent devant la gare et continuent à travers la ville d'Innsbruck. Dans le langage courant, on distingue entre l'« Ancienne gare de Stubaital », qui désigne le terrain et le bâtiment de la gare de 1904, et la « Nouvelle gare de Stubaital » en tant que dépôt actuel des transports publics d'Innsbruck.
