La Maison de Fer se trouve sur la place sud-tyrolienne de Graz, dans le 4e district urbain de Lend. Elle a été construite au milieu du 19ème siècle comme un bâtiment en squelette de fonte et fait aujourd'hui partie de la Maison d'art de Graz, érigée en 2003. Les plans proviennent de l'architecte Josef Benedict Withalm. Le Palais Thinnfeld est directement adjacent à la structure du bâtiment.
