La réserve naturelle De Viconiakleiputten est une zone d'extraction d'argile ancienne de 20 ha de l'ancienne briqueterie de Nieuwpoort. L'excavation s'est faite de manière très irrégulière et plutôt peu profonde, ce qui a donné naissance à un biotope différencié d'eaux ouvertes, de vasières, de zones de roseaux et de prairies. La zone, qui est nommée d'après la ferme du château devant vous, est une zone de reproduction et de recherche alimentaire pour les canards et les rousserolles.
