Le Coq , appelé également Le Coq-sur-Mer, est une commune néerlandophone de Belgique située en Région flamande dans la province de Flandre-Occidentale. Il s'agit d'une station balnéaire sur la mer du Nord.
L'équipage d'un navire en perdition a retrouvé le chemin de la terre ferme et fut sauvé en entendant le chant puissant d'un coq qui, ayant fourni un si grand effort, en est mort.
