Baisy-Thy est un village du Brabant wallon en Belgique. Sis au départ de la vallée de la Thyle, il fait administrativement partie de la ville et commune de Genappe située en Région wallonne de Belgique. C'était une commune à part entière avant la fusion des communes de 1977.Le nom Baisy-Thy provient des deux hameaux Baisy et Thy, qui formaient deux communes distinctes avant leur réunion le 3 septembre 1810 par un décret impérial. Le nom de Baisy serait à rapprocher de celui de Baisieux et Bézu. On trouve les graphies Basciu , Baseio , Baisiu , Basiers , Basiu , Baisi , Baziu , Baisieu , Basieu , Basy , Baisy , Baisier , Bezy .
