En 1972, le torenkot a été transformé en un lieu d'accueil pour les visiteurs. Trois ans plus tard, des travaux de restauration importants ont de nouveau été réalisés par les meuniers Peel de Gistel. La clôture, la galerie volante, ainsi que la queue et le toit ont été entièrement rénovés. Le moulin a également reçu un soin de peinture approfondi. Le Herentmolen est, à côté du Geluveldmolen actuellement démonté, le seul moulin à tour encore existant en Flandre, équipé d'une galerie volante. Le moulin a été restauré pour la dernière fois en 1975 et en 2005. Le moulin est à nouveau apte à moudre, mais ne fonctionne plus actuellement (2009).
