Description

Le cimetière de Hooge Crater a été ouvert en octobre 1917, lorsque Hoge était tombé aux mains des Alliés au début de la troisième bataille d’Ypres. Après l’armistice, le cimetière a été agrandi avec quelque 5800 tombes provenant de champs de bataille et de cimetières plus petits de la région. Fait remarquable, la Pierre du Souvenir, à l’avant du cimetière, est placée dans une profondeur circulaire : symbole des nombreux cratères qui ont été créés dans la région.
