Ce quartier de villas anglo-normandes a été bâti sur un grand lopin de dune octroyé en 1889 par un bail emphytéotique à des particuliers pour y construire un quartier Belle Epoque romantique. De Haan doit son style architectural à l'urbaniste allemand Joseph Stübben. La station de trams classée et le quartier de villas situé au nord de la ligne de trams sont des exemples éloquents d'architecture à colombage, typique du style Belle Époque de notre Côte. Une balade dans ce quartier est chaudement recommandée et permet de goûter à l'atmosphère qui régnait en 1900.
Une fois par an (le 1er samedi du mois d'août) on commémore la période Belle Epoque pendant la fête 'Trammelant'.
