Das englisch-normannische Villenviertel ist ein großes Dünengrundstück, das der belgische Staat im Jahre 1889 mehreren Bürgern in Erbpacht gegeben hat. Sie wollten hier ein romantisches Belle Epoque-Viertel anlegen lassen. Es war der deutsche Städtebauer Joseph Stübben, der somit den Anblick des Badestädtchens bestimmte. Die denkmalgeschützte Straßenbahnhaltestelle und das Villenviertel nördlich der Straßenbahnlinie sind schöne Beweise der englisch-normannischen Fachwerkelemente, die typisch sind für die Belle Epoque-Architektur an unserer Küste. Ein Spaziergang durch dieses Viertel ist der absolute Geheimtipp und führt Sie im Handumdrehen in das Jahr 1900.
Einmal im Jahr geht man zurück in diese "Belle Epoque" Zeit: während des "Trammelantfestes" (1. Samstag im August).
