Dans les ruelles autour de l'église de Slijpe, on peut encore goûter à l'atmosphère médiévale : bien que le village ait été en grande partie détruit pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, les anciennes limites des parcelles ont été respectées lors de la reconstruction. Ces petites ruelles étroites remontent à la parcelle de vers 1100. En particulier, la rue Saint-Nicolas et la rue Padden en donnent une bonne idée.
