Le moulin à eau est représenté pour la première fois sur la carte du géomètre gantois Horenbault datant de 1592. Au départ, il s'agissait d'une double installation, un moulin à huile et un moulin à grain, chacun situé de chaque côté de la Molenbeek. Le moulin à huile est tombé en désuétude et a disparu, mais le moulin à grain a survécu et a récemment été restauré dans sa gloire d'antan. Une toute nouvelle roue à aubes en métal riveté tourne à nouveau joyeusement et éclabousse !
Au moulin à eau commence le sentier Molenbeek, un sentier de découverte de la nature pour les enfants qui se concentre sur l'interaction des différents biotopes dans la précieuse vallée de ruisseau.
Côté rue du site du moulin se trouve la chapelle Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs, construite en 1866 par les exploitants du moulin.
