La réserve naturelle « het Burreken » est située à la frontière de Brakel, Maarkedal et Horebeke. C’est une combinaison unique de forêts, de vallées, de collines, de faune et de flore. De plus, il y a un silence remarquable.
Le Burreken est géré par Natuurpunt, qui organise régulièrement des promenades guidées.
En outre, il existe deux itinéraires pédestres balisés à travers le domaine: la route de la souris du gland (7,5 km) et la route de la salamandre de feu (7 km).
