Au cimetière municipal de Malines, il y a trois tombes de guerre du Commonwealth, des tombes de vétérans et un grand nombre de tombes belges de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, principalement de victimes de bombardements alliés et d'attaques V1. Les bombardements alliés ont coûté la vie à 342 habitants. Le cimetière possède également deux monuments commémoratifs : pour les vétérans et pour le prisonnier politique belge Désiré Bouchery. Un monument honorifique conçu par Boudewijn Tuerlinckx rend hommage aux morts de la Première et de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Le mémorial se dresse sur deux larges marches, le rendant visible de loin et dominant le parterre d'honneur.
