Le vieux hôtel de ville de Turnhout, tant halle aux draps que halle aux viandes, ainsi que salle de conseil pour l'administration municipale et halle, était un bâtiment indépendant situé du côté sud du marché, dans l'axe de la rue Herentals. Datant en partie du 14ème siècle, il a été à plusieurs reprises ravagé par des incendies, notamment en 1716, après quoi il a été reconstruit dans un style classique; en 1936, il a été protégé en tant que monument mais a été démoli en 1962, après la construction de l'hôtel de ville actuel, pour des raisons "techniques de circulation".
