Selon un texte d'archive auquel fait référence un texte encadré à l'intérieur de la chapelle, le culte local de Sainte Barbe remonterait au début du 16ème siècle et aurait donné lieu à la construction d'une chapelle à cet endroit. Selon les inscriptions placées à l'extérieur, la chapelle construite en 1756 a été reconstruite en 1819 par Antoon Van Hoorick. Deux pierres commémoratives en pierre dure au sommet de la façade de la chapelle de chaque côté de la porte portent les inscriptions suivantes : à gauche : "Cette Chapelle/ d'abord Construite/ en l'Année 1756." et à droite : "Rénovée et placée/ par Monsieur/ Antoon Van Hoornick/ 1819". Rénovée en 1969 grâce à Henri de Lovinfosse. Chapelle de route octogonale au ton néoclassique (sur une base carrée avec des angles échancrés) couverte d'un petit toit en tente (en ardoises et en ardoises artificielles),
