Ce marais que traverse la Woluwe doit son nom a un petit ruisseau dont la source se trouve au stade Fallon. Le paysage marécageux un peu envoutant, parsemé d'arbres morts, est assez inhabituel et unique à Bruxelles. De nombreux oiseaux d'eau y trouve refuge, comme la Poule d'eau, le Héron cendré ou encore le Martin pêcheur. Le promontoire sablonneux et boisé qui domine le marais fut déjà occupé par des hommes au néolithique, en 2000 av. J.C.
