Dit moeras dat de Woluwe doorkruist, dankt zijn naam aan een beekje waarvan de bron zich in het Fallon-stadion bevindt. Het ietwat betoverende drassige landschap, bezaaid met dode bomen, is vrij ongebruikelijk en uniek in Brussel. Veel watervogels vinden er hun toevlucht, zoals de waterhoen, de grijze reiger of de ijsvogel. De zanderige en beboste oevers die het moeras domineren, werden al bewoond door mensen in de neolithische periode, in 2000 voor Christus.
