La source de l’Empereur, située au bout d’un caillebotis, se trouve au pied d’un flanc escarpé du vallon dit des Grandes Flosses. Point de bouillonnement, mais une eau qui surgit tranquillement et qui a creusé, au fil des siècles, une jolie dépression. La source devrait son nom à l’empereur Charles Quint qui, parait-il, aimait s’y désaltérer lorsqu’il venait chasser le cerf et le sanglier au 16ème siècle dans cette partie de la forêt. Auparavant, elle pourrait s’être appelée source aux Clabots, nom à la signification incertaine que portent encore aujourd’hui les deux étangs situés en aval.
