En hiver, de nombreux oiseaux migrent vers le sud, et pour certaines espèces, la destination n'est pas plus au sud que la Belgique. Les oies à tête barrée et les petites oies rieuses, par exemple. Elles parcourent des milliers de kilomètres depuis le Grand Nord jusqu'aux zones de polders côtières, pour revenir au printemps se reproduire dans le cercle polaire. Vous pouvez rencontrer les oies arctiques - également appelées 'oies de gel' - notamment dans cette réserve naturelle de la Polder d'Uitkerke.
