In winter, many birds migrate south, and for some species, the destination is no further south than Belgium. The Greater White-fronted Geese and the Lesser White-fronted Geese, for example. They fly thousands of kilometers from the High North to the polder areas along the coast, only to breed again in the spring within the Arctic Circle. You can encounter the Arctic geese - also known as 'frost geese' - in this nature reserve the Uitkerkse Polder.
