Il n’y a pas n’importe quel rocher ici pour la décoration. Il s’agit d’un bloc de la carrière voisine, un grès appartenant à la Formation de Tubize qui a été déposé il y a 530 à 537 millions d’années à l’ère géologique cambrienne, une partie du massif brabançon. L’exploitation minière a commencé dans la région du 19ème siècle à 30m de profondeur par la Société pour l’exploitation de la carrière de Rodenem. Les pierres ont été utilisées pour les pavés pour la construction de routes et de blocs de construction pour de nombreux bâtiments (y compris l’église de Lembeek et la tour Malakoff).
