Dans la liturgie catholique, un autel de repos est un autel, généralement situé dans une chapelle mais parfois à l'extérieur. Il est utilisé lors d'une procession , notamment lors de la procession sacramentelle. Ici, le gardien (récipient dans lequel l'hôte est affiché) est mis en place pour le culte pendant une période de temps.
Un autel du repos peut être permanent (autel du repos éternel), mais il peut aussi être de nature temporaire .
