L'hôtel de ville de Spa a été construit entre 1762 et 1768.
Cet édifice au beau style Louis XVI est l'oeuvre de l'architecte Digneffe. Au 18ème siècle, elle reçut les industriels venus commercialiser l'eau de source . En 1822, ce Grand Hôtel devient la propriété de John Cockerill qui en fait une fabrique de cardes (le cardage est l'action de séparer les fibres de laine).
Aujourd'hui, ce bâtiment abrite la mairie.
