Le musée est situé à Martigny, dans le canton du Valais. Il se trouve dans l’ancien arsenal jouxtant l’amphithéâtre de Martigny, à 200 mètres de la Fondation Gianadda.
Ce musée vivant accueille œuvres d’art et documents relatant le passé de l’hospice du Grand-Saint-Bernard ainsi que son symbole, le chien du saint-bernard.
