Engelnstedt est l'un des 31 quartiers de la ville autonome de Salzgitter en Basse-Saxe, située dans la localité de Nord et limitrophe de Lebenstedt, la plus grande localité de la ville. Il est marqué par l'agriculture.
Engelnstedt faisait partie du district de Wolfenbüttel jusqu'au 31 mars 1942 et est devenu, par un acte administratif, une partie de la grande ville de Watenstedt-Salzgitter le 1er avril 1942. Le 23 janvier 1951, celle-ci a été officiellement renommée Salzgitter.
