Le quartier Sennestadt dans le sud-est de la ville indépendante de Bielefeld en Rhénanie-du-Nord-Westphalie compte environ 22 000 habitants et se distingue par sa particularité urbanistique.
La grande cité Sennestadt a été construite de 1956 jusqu'à environ 1965 dans le paysage de landes et de prairies de l'ancienne commune de Senne II en tant que ville planifiée selon les projets de l'urbaniste Hans Bernhard Reichow, principalement pour les personnes déplacées et les réfugiés. Conçue à l'époque comme une ville adaptée aux voitures, le concept, critiqué entre-temps, d'une « architecture urbaine organique » a de nouveau gagné en pertinence. Néanmoins, le concept de Sennestadt est considéré comme dépassé sur certains points.
