Minden 05 était un club de sport de Minden. La première équipe de football a joué cinq ans dans la ligue régionale de Westphalie, qui était alors de troisième niveau.

Le 15 mai 1905, le FC Westfalia Minden a été fondé, devenant ainsi le premier club de football de la ville. La même année, le FC Viktoria Minden a suivi, qui a fusionné avec le Westfalia en 1909 pour former le Mindener Sport Club. Deux ans plus tard, le Mindener SC a fusionné avec le département de jeu du TV Jahn Minden pour devenir le Mindener Spielverein 05. En 1910, les clubs BV Fortuna Minden et Wacker Minden ont également été fondés, qui se sont unis après la Première Guerre mondiale pour former la SpVgg Fortuna-Wacker Minden.
