The club was founded in 1905 as Westfalia Minden. Two years later, Victoria Minden was founded and both clubs merged in 1910 to form Mindener SC 05. In 1921, the club merged with gymnastics club TV Jahn Minden to form SVg Minden 05. Because the Deutsche Turnerschaft decided that ball sports and gymnastics clubs had to be separated, the football department became independent again as Mindener SC 05.
